TROWBRIDGE’S Geoff Matthews clinched victory at a difficult Wilts Angling Bank Holiday Open match fished at Viaduct Fishery.
With the carp shoaled in one spot, weights were well below their best, but Matthews won with 100 lb 8 oz, ahead of Tony Scott, from Swindon, with 47 lb of carp.
Jim Butcher, from Bradford, clinched third prize with 28 lb of carp.
Other placings: 4. Darren Fordham Devizes 26 lb 0 oz; 5. Pete Neate Holt 25 lb 0 oz; 6. Nigel Saunders Bath 21 lb 0 oz.
COMPETITORS enjoyed good sport in the Wilts Angling Open match fished at Todber Manor on Sunday.
Pete Neate, from Holt, chalked up another good win with a carp catch weighing 142 lb 4 oz followed by John Gardner, from Chippenham, with 109 lb 3 oz of carp.
Terry Niblett, from Gillingham, took third prize with 108 lb of carp.
Other placings: 4. Ian Willetts Bradford 104 lb 4 oz; 5. Darren Fletcher Melksham 104 lb 0 oz; 6. Dave Bancroft Trowbridge 79 lb 15 oz.
