FISH were hard to tempt in the Ivy House Open match on Tuesday with weights well below their best.

Top honours went to Dave Halliday, from Swindon, with a carp and silvers catch weighing 11 lb 10 oz, while John Williams and Terry Strange, of Ivy House, shared runner up spot with silvers catches weighing 6 lb 2 oz.

It was a similar story in the Saturday Open match at Ivy House Fishery.

John Bohane, of Swindon Talisman, needed just 11 lb 9 oz of roach to carry off top prize.

Joe Thompson, of Ivy House, took runner up spot with a silvers catch weighing 9 lb 8 oz, with Gary Etheridge, from Devizes, in third spot with another silvers catch weighing 8 lb 7 oz.

The Sunday Open match at Ivy House Fishery once again found the fish reluctant to feed, Thompson carrying off top prize with a carp and silvers catch weighing 30 lb 11 oz. His silvers weights of 10 lb 8 oz also won the that award.

Ryan Shipp, from Westerleigh, took runner up spot with a carp and skimmers catch weighing 11 lb, with John Fuidge of Ivy House a close third with a silvers catch weighing 10 lb 3 oz.

MELKSHAM matchman Tony Gilbert (Wilts Angling) claimed the Thursday Open match at Viaduct Fishery with 168 lb 9 oz of carp.

Dave Romian, of Viaduct, took runner up spot with 131 lb 4 oz of carp, with Dan White, of Viaduct, third with 117 lb 7 oz. Steve Kedge, of Somerset Angling, took the silvers prize with a weight of 44 lb 6 oz.

Other placings: 4. Paul Greenwood Viaduct 105 lb 15 oz; 5.Jim Butcher Wilts Angling 103 lb 8 oz; 6. Roger Russell Tackle UK 92 lb 7 oz; 6.

THE Wilts Angling Open match produced consistent weights at Rood Ashton on Sunday, Robin Guy from Melksham winning with 88 lb of carp.

Stuart White, from Chippenham, took runner up spot with 82 lb of carp, with Pete Neate, from Holt, third with 81 lb.

Other placings: 4. Kevin Rowles Devizes 80 lb 0 oz; 5. Jim Butcher Bradford 78 lb 0 oz; 6. Rob Kepner Melksham 66 lb 8 oz.
