TROWBRIDGE’S Mark Poppleton took 69 lb 12 oz of carp to win the Thursday Wilts Angling evening match at Rood Ashton, writes COLIN SCULL.
Tony Gilbert, from Melksham, was runner up with 62 lb of carp, followed by Mick Withy, from Westbury, with 57 lb 12 oz of carp.
Other placings: 4. Darren Fletcher Melksham 50 lb 6 oz; 5. Ian Willetts Bradford 41 lb 12 oz; 6. Stuart White Chippenham 41 lb 4 oz.
POPPLETON reeled off a second successive victory the next night at the Airsprung evening match at Rood Ashton, with 41 lb of carp.
Kevin Hanson, from Trowbridge, took runner up spot with 38 lb 8 oz of carp and Roger Green, from Trowbridge, took third prize with 30 lb of carp.
Other placings: 4. Dean Adams Bradford 25 lb 0 oz; 5. Kevin Fricker Trowbridge 22 lb 9 oz; 6. Bill Turner Trowbridge 22 lb 8 oz.
CARP made up the weights in the Lavington match at Merritts Lake on Sunday as Terry Fell from Devizes won with 71 lb 8 oz.
Jim Butcher, from Bradford, was runner up with 66 lb 12 oz, followed by Dave Bancroft, from Trowbridge, with 61 lb.
Other placings: 4. Don Keates Hilperton 47 lb 4 oz; 5. Graham Pearce Lavington 36 lb 12 oz; 6. Jim Escott 26 lb 4 oz Melksham.
THE Kennet & Avon Canal at Foxhangers was in good form for Sunday’s Wilts Angling Open match where Howard Adams, from Devizes, took 28 lb 12 oz of carp and bream for victory.
Pete Neate, from Holt, took runner up spot with 21 lb 12 oz of bream and tench and Rob Kepner, from Melksham, was third with 12 lb 9 oz of bream and skimmers.
Other placings: 4. Dean Adams Bradford 11 lb 12 oz; 5. Alan Hillier Westbury 11 lb 4 oz; 6. Ian Willetts Bradford 10 lb 4 oz.
SUNDAY’S Airsprung match at Rood Ashton went to John Atkins snr, from Trowbridge, with 59 lb 8 oz of carp.
Craig Knight, from Trowbridge, was runner up with 58 lb 10 oz of carp, with Kevin Fricker, from Trowbridge, third with 53 lb 14 oz of carp.
Other placings: 4. Kevin Hanson Trowbridge 53 lb 12 oz; 5. Wayne Henley Bradford 48 lb 0 oz; 6. Dave Wareham Trowbridge 45 lb 8 oz.
