THE Chippenham New Year Day Open match was won by Andy Powell, of Preston Innovation Thatchers, with 16 lb 3 oz of chub and roach, writes COLIN SCULL.
Mick Gale, from Chippenham, was next with 14 lb 11 oz of roach and chub.
Gary Etheridge, from Devizes, was third with 14 lb of roach and chub.

THE New Year’s Day Airsprung Open on the Kennet & Avon Canal was won by Richard Whitmarsh, from Frome, with 5 lb 8 oz of roach.
Mike Marsden, from Westbury, was next with 5 lb 2 oz of roach followed by Martin Barrett, from Bradford, with 3 lb 3 oz of roach.

SUNDAY’S Wilts Angling Open on the Kennet & Avon Canal at All Cannings was won by Rob Kepner, from Melksham, with 5 lb 8 oz of roach and hybrids.
Stuart White, from Chippenham, took 5 lb 3 oz of roach and hybrids for second, with Mick Denton, from Oxford, third with 5 lb of roach.
Other placings: 4. Kevin Rowles Devizes 4 lb 14 oz; 5. Robin Guy Melksham 3 lb 14 oz; 6. Matt Herbert Oxford 3 lb 13 oz 8 dm.
