COMPETITORS in the final Calne match of the season enjoyed excellent sport on Sunday at Hazeland, writes COLIN SCULL.
Top honours went clearly to Simon Fear, of Calne, with chub and dace weighing 15 lb. Dave Johnson, from Calne, took runner up prize with 12 lb 5 oz of chub, while Martin Dolman, from Calne, was third with chub and dace catch weighing 6 lb 9 oz.
Other placings: 4. Nigel Smith Calne 6 lb 6 oz; 5. Trevor Payne Corsham 5 lb 14 oz; 6. Kevin Moore Devizes 5 lb 12 oz.
WEIGHTS were fairly even in Sunday's Wilts Angling Open match on the All Cannings stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal.
Liam Braddell, from Chippenham took top honours with 7 lb 13 oz of roach and hybrids. Gary Etheridge, from Devizes, was next with 5 lb 13 oz of roach and hybrids, followed by Alan Hillier, from Westbury, with 5 lb 10 oz of roach and skimmers.
Other placings: 4. Richard Brimble Westbury 4 lb 13 oz; 5. Mike Marsden Devizes 4 lb 10 oz; 6. Martin Barrett Trowbridge 4 lb 8 oz.
