Whitcombe wins with 194lb haul
LANDSEND Fishery was in great form for the Wednesday open match, with carp
feeding well.
Tony Whitcombe, of Mosella, won with a carp catch weighing a magnificent
194lb 14oz, taken on pole-fished paste for a runaway win. Mosella star Tony
Rixon was second with a fine net of carp weighing 126lb, taken on pole
fished pellets. He was followed by Alan Clark, of Bristol, with a carp catch
weighing 82lb 11oz, taken on pole-fished pellets.
Other placings: 4 George Cross, Veals, 81lb; 5 Mike Duckett, Landsend, 80lb.
Senior nets top prize
VIADUCT Fishery also hit top form for the Wednesday open match.
Trevor Senior, of The Army, won with a fine net of carp and tench weighing
177lb 14oz, taken on pole-fished pellets close in. Stuart Foale, of Veals,
was second with a carp catch weighing 139lb 7oz, taken on straight lead
fished pellets.
He was followed by Paul Garrett, of Maver Veals, with a carp catch weighing
113lb 9oz, taken on pole-fished pellets.
The silver fish prize went to Andy Murray, of Mosella, with a mixed bag
weighing 61lb 12oz.
Other placings: 4 Mash Mashedar, Sensas Viaduct, 112lb 10oz; 5 Andy Neal,
Maggots End, 109lb 12oz; 6 Ron Hayward, Haines Angling Frome, 89lb 13oz.
