Hayward nets top prize
THE Wednesday open match at Viaduct Fishery produced top class sport, with
the top six all netting over 100 lb of fish.
Another fine display from Frome matchman Ray Hayward saw him carry off top
prize with a carp catch weighing 152lb 8oz, taken alternating with pole and
waggler fished pellets.
Paul Greenwood, of Sensas Viaduct, was second with a carp catch weighing
151lb 9oz, taken on pole-fished pellets. Veteran Stoke St Michael matchman
Terry Bruton was third with a carp catch weighing 14lb 1oz, taken on
pole-fished pellets.
The silver fish prize went to John Bradford, of Avon Angling, with a mixed
catch weighing 36lb 14oz.
Other placings: 4 Pete Shergold, Haines AC Frome, 135b 1oz; 5 Ian Dunlop,
Wareham, 134lb 9oz; 6 Steve Foale, Veals, 127 lb 12, oz.
The weekend open match at Viaduct Fishery produced reasonable sport,
although weights were down on their recent highs.
Top spot went to Jamie Smith, from Frome, with a carp catch weighing 107lb
7oz, taken on waggler-fished paste. Ray Lucas, of Frome, was second with a
carp catch weighing 4lb 15oz, taken on pole-fished pellets. He was followed
by Dave Baker, from Trowbridge, with a carp catch weighing 67lb 10oz, taken
on pole-fished pellets.
The Tuesday open match at Viaduct Fishery again produced some bumper
catches.
Dave Luke, of Haines AC Frome, won with a magnificent carp catch weighing
204lb 7oz, taken on pole-fished pellets. Mosella star Tony Rixon was second
with another carp catch weighing 141lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished pellets. He
was followed by Tony Whitcombe, of Mosella, with a carp catch weighing
101lb, taken on pole-fished pellets.
