CHRIS Cook says it is a “dream come true” to have established himself as Bath Rugby’s first-choice scrum-half this season.

The 23-year-old has come through the ranks at The Rec and is currently enjoying a breakthrough season.

Cook spent the latter part of the 2013-14 campaign on loan at London Welsh, helping the Exiles win the Green King IPA Championship title.

Since coming back to Bath he has featured in all 10 of their Aviva Premiership games this term, making seven starts.

“Coming back from my loan spell I really wanted to give Bath another go and I am really happy with how it has gone this year,” said Cook.

“We have got really good strength in depth at the club and there is no position that is secure.

“I am not taking anything for granted and I have just got to keep working hard every day.

“Going out on loan was really important for my confidence, if nothing else. If you turn up and train everyday but don’t get the opportunity to play you start to think what is the point of it all, so to go away and get a good run of games under my belt was really enjoyable.

“I am a Bath boy through and through, so to get my chance in the first team is a dream come true.”

Cook will face competition for the number nine jersey from Fijian Nikola Matawalu in 2015-16 after he agreed a switch from Glasgow Warriors earlier this week.
