HOOKER Ross Batty is looking for Bath Rugby to continue their perfect start to the European Champions Cup and make it three wins from three this weekend.

A last-minute conversion from George Ford completed a 25-23 victory away at Wasps last Sunday and the two sides will renew battle at The Rec tomorrow.

With two games against defending champions Toulon as well as a trip to Irish giants Leinster waiting in the new year, Batty knows another win is imperative to help Bath’s chances of reaching the knockout stages.

“Going away from home in Europe is always difficult but we’re back at home this weekend and will try to get another win,” said Batty.

“If we can win on Saturday, it is three wins from three and that’ll be the perfect start. Our pool is a bit tasty so if we can get another win, it’ll be a fantastic achievement.

“We’ve had a bit of bad weather already but it’ll be fantastic if it’s another wet day. Another forwards battle sounds good to me.

“We have got to get going up front to give the backs something to work off.

“We’ve got some good players out there, who know how to cause problems, and it’s much easier getting up from a scrum or a ruck to run forwards than it is to run backwards.”

The win over Wasps got Bath back on track after consecutive Aviva Premiership defeats against Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints but Batty says no one at The Rec was pressing the panic button.

“It’s been a tough couple of weeks. The teams we are playing against are some of the best in Europe,” said Batty.

“We had chances in those previous games so we are not a million miles away. If we’d taken them, it would have been a different outcome.”
