CHRIS Cook is confident that Bath Rugby will have the measure of Sale Sharks this time when the sides resume battle at The Rec this weekend.

A pair of late tries handed Sale a 29-17 win at the AJ Bell Stadium last weekend and the two will go toe-to-toe again on Saturday in their rescheduled Aviva Premiership clash.

Bath fought back from a 17-9 half-time deficit to level the scores in Manchester, only to then come unstuck again in the closing stages.

Scrum-half Cook says there were enough good signs from that performance to suggest Bath can turn the result around in their favour this weekend.

“It was massively disappointing because we felt like we did enough in terms of getting ourselves in a position to win it,” said Cook.

“We’d let in two soft tries early on but to come back, especially with the home record Sale have, and put ourselves in a position to win is a positive, it’s just a question of finishing it off.

“It’s a bit of a strange one playing back-to-back but it’s a good challenge. It means we have a chance to have our revenge down at the Rec.

“It’s definitely achievable and we believed a win up at Sale was achievable anyway.

“We have definitely got confidence going into this weekend and in terms of analysis; we know what they are going to do now so we can be better prepared.

“I think the gameplan was right and we proved that by the position we got ourselves in, we just maybe switched off for a few phases and it cost us.

“At The Rec, we will have a home crowd so I feel like those lapses won’t be an issue and I have every confidence we can come away with a win.”
