SEMESA Rokoduguni should be winging his way back into the England side next weekend, according to Bath team-mate Jeff Williams.

Rokoduguni continued his flying start to the new season with a match-winning try against Exeter Chiefs last Sunday, his fifth score in Bath’s opening seven Aviva Premiership fixtures.

That form has seen the Fiji-born star included in Eddie Jones’ England squad for this autumn’s internationals, which start against South Africa at Twickenham on November 12.

Rokoduguni has been unable to add to his sole cap since a debut against New Zealand two years ago but fellow Bath winger Williams has no doubt he should be back in the fold this winter.

“I’m really chuffed for Roko, it was unbelievable finish and I think that is going to go a long way to helping him in his international career,” said Williams.

“I think he is going to start against South Africa in that first match next week and he really deserves it.

“He was playing this well last year too. In a club that overall had a poor season, he was still playing out of his skin. He has been in fantastic form and he totally deserves to be back in there.”

Williams himself has mainly been restricted to appearances off the bench this term but with Rokoduguni now away on international duty, the door is likely to open for him now, starting when Bath host Leicester Tigers in the Anglo Welsh Cup this evening.

Although he has had to be patient, Williams says the fact he is in a Bath side that will create plenty of chances for the wingers makes it much easier for him to bide his time.

“I have been happy with how my season has gone. I’ve been involved a lot and you want to play as much as you can. I have been working hard and you can’t stand still in this league,” said Williams.

“Roko has been getting better but I have been pushing him and he’s been pushing me, so I have been getting better too.

“As a winger, it’s great to know you are going to get opportunities to score tries. You know the guys inside you are going to create chances and openings for you to break off.

“We have to earn the right to do that, though, so we have to give massive credit to the forwards and the big guys because it all starts with the work they do and they’ve been absolutely unbelievable this season to give us the platform to play.”
