NORTH WILTS Ladies have increased their representation in the Wiltshire side named for this Sunday’s second-round Atherley Trophy tie against Somerset.

Fourteen of the 24 ladies selected in the team for the first round inter-county championship game against Gloucestershire last month were all from the Chippenham-based club at Westcroft but despite a confidence boosting 142-104 win over their neighbours, the selectors have rung the changes.

North Wilts trio Jean Harris, Shirley Palfrey and Isabel Dawson all come into the side respectively to replace the injured Julia Hunt (Westlecot), Marian Menzies (Five Rivers) and Carol Massey (North Wilts) who switches to the reserves bench.

Wiltshire team, rink 1: Ann Roberts-Phare, Jane Taylor, Irene Button & Alex Jacobs (all North Wilts). Rink 2: Norma Rowden, Karen Funnell, Jean Collier & Sue Cooke (all NW). Rink 3: Jean Harris (North Wilts), Janice Bull (Five Rivers), Barbara Shepheard (NW) & Wendy Anderson (Westlecot). Rink 4: Eileen Hawker (Christie Miller), Jan Tombs (NW), Bev Lilley & Sheila Garlick (both CM). Rink 5: Shirley Palfrey (NW), Mary Buckle, Joan Coleman (both FR) & Janet Hardie (NW). IN NATIONAL inter-club team championship events North Wilts ladies and mixed teams are still running in three competitions.

Previous winners of the Yetton Trophy in 2008, the North Wilts ladies go into the new year still cherishing the hope of winning the event again and face Somerset section winners Ilminster in round four on January 10.

North Wilts have also reached the second round of the Vivienne Trophy after beating Bristol 91-81 and were due to play Nailsea (Thursday).
