ADAM BOLWELL was a member of Wiltshire U25s' highest winning rink that retained the Four Counties Festival Tournament at Westlecot on Bank Holiday Monday, writes DAVE EATON.

The Holt member’s rink, in which he was lead, consisted of number two Matt Daniell (Wootton Bassett), three Craig Morphet (Westlecot) and skip Nick Revell (Amesbury), won their match against Somerset 28-11.

Wiltshire took the honours on two of their three rinks, beating Worcestershire 24-12 as well as Somerset 28-11but lost 18-25 to Gloucestershire, to score four points to retain the title on shot difference.

THE NEW outdoor season may only be a couple of weeks old but the ladies national county competitions move into full swing this week.

Fourteen ladies’ quartets from clubs in this area of the county will be competing tonight (Friday) in the preliminary round in the southern area section of the ladies county fours championship.

A FIRST Johns squad trial for the Wiltshire Ladies inter-county championship side was due to take place on Wednesday at Devizes.

A further trial will be held at Wroughton tomorrow (Saturday).

Wiltshire’s first match in the national inter-county championship for the Johns Trophy is due to take place at the end of the month on Saturday, May 30 at home at Devizes against Devon.

AVON Bowls Club, which is based at Melksham House, will host an Open Evening on Tuesday, May 12 from 6pm.

Anyone interested in learning more about bowls is invited to come along next Tuesday evening, meet club members, have a go at bowling and enjoy a sociable evening at the clubhouse.

Please bring flat-soled shoes and the club will provide the rest.
