TWO Holt rinks have qualified from area three and progressed into the quarter-finals of the Bowls Wiltshire County Fours; where the eventual finalists will go on to represent the county at the National Championships.

Both rinks skipped by Stuart Oliver and Ben Gadd, will now play in the quarter-finals at Chippenham Town Bowls Club on Tuesday May, 29.

Oliver will lead his rink consisting of Chris Poole, Howard Davis and Matt Tucker at Holt, against a rink from Amesbury, skipped by Nick Revell, while Gadd’s rink of Wayne Simmonds, Justin Davis and Wayne Snook, who won the competition in 2014, will play a rink from Westlecot at the same time.

Meanwhile, Gadd’s triple consisting of Simmonds and Snook, winners in 2015, take part in the last 16 of the County Triples competition and face a team from Royal Wotton Bassett, skipped by Steve Snell, this evening.

Two other Triples from Holt, skipped by Craig Hatfield-Doughty and Martin Oliver shall also be competing against other Swindon sides.

In the Bowls Wiltshire Leagues, Holt, who are sponsored by DJ Bewley in Melksham, have also made a great start in the Four Rink League, which they won in the 2015 season. Winning four games out of four and only losing one point, while in the Three Rink League, again winners in 2015, winning three games out of four.

In Mid-Wilts Triples League Division One, Holt are currently leading the way, winning all five games played so far.
