CLARRIE Dunbar competed in the top three national inter-club championship events Denny, Yetton and Egham Trophies last weekend and were successful in two of them.

However, the ladies side crashed out of the Yetton Trophy after being hammered 94-41 by North Wilts.

The Denny game with MidGlos was close across the board in the first half, with the score 45-35 at halfway. However, Clarrie upped the pace to go 74-54 up at 15 ends and finally registered an 81-58 victory.

They took the honours on three rinks, with Neil Collett and Andy Colebrooke recording big wins but it was a day for skip Keith Bailey to forget in Gloucester as his rink lost 33-7.

They led 30-20 at five ends, 60-26 at halfway and powered away to a 94-41 advantage at 15 ends when a halt was called as Westlecot conceded the tie.

At home, Andy Colebrooke and Russell Francis racked up 21 and 18-shots wins respectively, while Graham Shadwell won by 13 away at Westlecot.

Despite losing on all four rinks, Clarrie’s ladies made a good start against North Wilts in their Yetton Trophy match and were only 14-13 down after five ends.

But then North Wilts increased the pressure and at halfway, Clarrie had fallen 42-21 adrift before the Chippenham side powered to 94-41 victory at the close.
