THREE-TIME winners in the last eight years of the overall Wessex League championship title, Clarrie Dunbar bid to win another league title this weekend at Bristol Indoor Bowls Club, writes DAVE EATON.
Dunbar, who lifted the overall crown in 2009, 2013 as well as two years ago, face top Northamptonshire indoor side Kingsthorpe, in the Wessex final at the City and County of Bristol club on Sunday morning (11am).
- CLARRIE Dunbar have two more chances for national indoor titles at Nottingham over the next week.
The men’s Over 60 four of Duncan Baxter, Alan Brown, Glyn Jones and Duncan McGovern are first up tomorrow (Saturday) when they face a quartet from Sutton in Surrey.
Dunbar’s ladies Over 60s duo of Sue Bird and Jeanette Wheeler face a Kingsthorp, Northamptonshire, pairing of Celia Morris and Diane Brumwell next week.
Christie Miller have qualified in the men’s Over 50 triples, where Chris Easton, Nigel Price and Andy Moore face Bromsgrove trio of Lew Whitehouse, Graham Arnold and Nigel Brereton.
- THE Open Singles Circuit tournament (OSC) scheduled for Clarrie Dunbar on the weekend of April 29-30 has been cancelled as it could clash with the semi-finals and finals of the Top Club competition scheduled for the same weekend at York and District IBC, in which Dunbar are through to the national quarter-finals.
