FORMER national singles champion Alex Jacobs will bid for a hat-trick of Wiltshire titles on Saturday.

The Box player goes in the fours, pairs and two-wood singles events at the county finals day at Alderbury.

Jacobs, a seven-times winner of the fours, including last year, skips a rink in the final against Wroughton.

Then she switches her attention to the pairs with her regular partner Sue Cooke when they face Westlecot’s Jayne Croston and Lynda Whittingham.

Jacobs’ third final is the two-wood singles against fellow Box player Kathryn Yeoman, who she plays with in the morning fours final.

Box club-mate Jean Collier contests the ladies singles final against Deanne Davis (Wanborough).

The ladies junior (U25) singles final features Bassett’s Lucy Smith against Avon’s Georgina Newman. Smith has dominated this event in recent seasons, winning the event five times in the past six years.

The sixth and last final at Alderbury is the triples contest between Purton’s Chris Mitchell, Julie Jones and Alison Fail against Salisbury.

Royal Wootton Bassett’s Kyle Anderson has reached three of the men’s finals being staged at Devizes.

Anderson faces Highworth’s David Murray in this year’s U25 singles final.

He then teams up with Westlecot’s Gary Jackson in the U25 pairs final to play Tom Newman (Avon) and Chris Poole (Holt) and Anderson’s third final is in the men’s two-wood competition where he will meet Dave Betteridge (Trowbridge Town).

Chippenham Town’s Steve Heseltine features in two of the men’s finals at Devizes on Sunday – men’s pairs and Over 55 fours.

In the pairs, he teams up with youngster Alex Wickham to face Gary Fippen and Nick Grenfell.

Heseltine also features in the afternoon over 55s fours final, with the winner only going to the nationals at Leamington.

His Chippenham Town foursome of John Lucas, Mike Travers, himself and Jeremy Haselton face Royal Wootton Bassett players Barry Sictorness, Terry Walton, Chris Cheesley and skipped by five-times former national champion Mel Biggs.

Chippenham Town, led by Neil Connor, are also through to the men’s fours final to face Holt, skipped by Ben Gadd.

Gadd also bids for his first men’s singles title against Mike Titcombe (Westlecot).

The men’s triples competition final will be staged at Devizes on the weekend of September 9-10 at the Bowls Wiltshire finals and features two triples from Holt skipped by Justin Davis and Gadd.
