ROYAL Wotton Bassett’s Kyle Anderson claimed two Wiltshire crowns on Sunday at the county finals day at Devizes.

Anderson won his second U25s singles title after fighting back from 19-17 down to defeat Highworth’s David Murray 21-19 after 28 ends.

In the inaugural men’s U25 pairs competition Anderson teamed up with Westlecot’s Gary Jackson to register a comfortable 27-17 victory over the partnership of Tom Newman (Avon) and Holt’s Chris Poole.

In between these two finals Anderson suffered a 14-9 defeat in the county men’s two wood final against Trowbridge Town’s veteran Dave Betteridge.

Bassett were also celebrating the in O55 fours as the quartet of Barry Sictorness, Terry Walton, Chris Cheesley and Mel Biggs defeated Chippenham Town led by Jeremy Haselton 22-15.

The pairs final was a close affair with Chippenham Town’s Alex Wickham and Steve Heseltine being edged out 17-15 by Spencer Moulton’s Gary Fippen and Nick Grenfell.

The Chippenham Town men’s fours team led Neil Connor suffered a heavy 27-4 loss to 2014 winners Holt skipped by Ben Gadd.

Gadd clinched a double as earlier in the day he had beaten Mike Titcombe (Westlecot) 21-15 to win his first men’s singles title.

Fours: Wayne Simmonds, Justin Davis, Wayne Snook & Ben Gadd (Holt) beat Rob Clews, Jim Fitzpatrick, Richard Gainey & Neil Connor (Chippenham T) 27-4.

U25 Singles: K Anderson (RWB) beat David Murray (Highworth) 21-19

Over 55 Fours: Barry Sictorness, Terry Walton, Chris Cheesley & Mel Biggs (RWB) beat John Lucas, Mike Travers, Steve Heseltine &Jeremy Haselton (Chip T) 22-15.

LUCY SMITH extended her brilliant run in the U25 singles championship at county ladies finals day staged at a wet Alderbury on Saturday.

She had previously won the Wiltshire junior (U25) singles crown five times since 2011 and her 21-14 success over Avon’s Georgina Newman made it six titles in seven years.

There were also wins for Purton’s Chris Mitchell, Julie Jones and Alison Fail 19-15 over Salisbury in the ladies triples final while Wanborough’s Deanne Davis lifted her first county ladies singles title with a comfortable 21-14 success over 2015 champion and last year’s beaten singles finalists Jean Collier (Box).

Westlecot’s Jayne Croston and Lynda Whittingham claimed the Pairs title when beating Box duo Sue Cooke and Alex Jacobs 18-13.

However, Cooke and Jacobs plus Carol Grenfell and Kathryn Yeoman (Box) lifted the fours trophy defeating Wroughton 19-16.

And Jacobs beat club colleague Yeoman 16-8 to retain the two wood singles crown.

Fours: Carol Grenfell, Kathryn Yeoman, Sue Cooke & Alex Jacobs (holders, Box) beat June Corbett, Margaret Dowthwaite, Carol Woodward & Babs Salter (Wroughton) 19-16.
