CLARRIE Dunbar picked up three wins out of four over past week.

The men’s and mixed teams both won their national third round Denny Cup and Egham Trophy ties respectively while the men, holders of the Wessex League overall tie also won their latest central group game but the ladies missed-out losing 90-82 in round two to Nailsea in the second chance Yetton Plate.

Dunbar blitzed Bristol 93-41 in the Denny Cup winning on all four rinks with the home rinks skipped by Graham Shadwell and Andy Colebrooke both winning by 16 shots each. Good support came from the away rinks skipped by Keith Bailey (13 shots) and Wayne Snook (seven shots).

The Clarrie men then registered a massive 129-51 whitewash of Nailsea in the Wessex League, central section.

They took the honours on all four rinks to collect a maximum 16 points. Leading the victory charge were the two home rinks skipped by Russell Francis and Graham Shadwell who both registered 24 shot victories.

Clarrie Dunbar completed the treble when beating Swindon-based Westlecot 81-50 in the third round of the Egham Trophy.

Dunbar took the honours on three of the four rinks against Westlecot with the match being decided at home by the foursome of Jeanette Wheeler, Debbie Shadwell, Russell Francis and skip Graham Shadwell.

Meanwhile, Shadwell is one step away from reaching the final stages of the Champion of Champions national tournament.

Representing Clarrie Dunbar again he has won the Area 16 section after his opponent Ryan Atkins (Malvern Hills) conceded the match due to work commitments. Shadwell now faces an inter-area play-off to secure his place at Hayling Island in February.
