HAVING beaten Miller Sports B in midweek, Cross Keys Rowde would have thought that they were nailed on certainties to finish runners-up to Division Four champions Corsham Centre Youth.

All they had to do was win their three remaining game to take second spot from under the noses of Oakhill and Bath Road.

With Mallard, who they had beaten 4-3 in the reverse fixture, next up at Sands Lane the hosts were tipped for victory.

However Mallard upset the odds by holding the home team to a goalless draw.

Although their may not have been any goals the match was played in a superb sporting manner throughout by both sides and was excellently refereed by Maurice Chillcott.

White Horse B 2 Bremhill View Boys 3

THE last time Bremhill View Boys won a game was back in early December when they defeated White Horse B 2-1 so the Calne side would have been happy that their final game of the season was against the same opponents as they looked to end the season on a high by ending a seven-match winless run.

Bremhill came up trumps with a 3-2 success that will ease the disappointment of the last few months when they threw away their chance of finishing the season with promotion.

White Horse made a promising start when Paul Bendell headed in an Adam Criggs cross to put them ahead. Matt Davies got Bremhill back on level terms and a wonder goal from manager Chris Edes, who controlled the ball on his chest and then rifled home a stunning long-range effort, put Bremhill 2-1 up at half time.

After the break, White Horse again made a lively start and managed to get themselves back on level terms, Bendell scoring his second when he nipped in between two defenders to ping the ball in from close range to make it 2-2.

With both teams chasing victory, Bremhill stole maximum points when Matt Richards netted what was to be the winner very late in the game.
