A THUMPING 11-2 victory over FC Pig & Whistle, coupled with a defeat for Melksham Cosmos at home to FC Buscots, means that, thanks to a superior goal difference, Potterne CFC are the new leaders.

After an extraordinary opening 15 minutes that saw the score at 2-2, Potterne scored at will.

Neil Clark netted four, Ben House three and Ben Mason once before Craig Townsend came off the bench to complete a hat-trick for Potterne, Jack Woolsgrove and Ashley Fletcher replied for the Pig.

After having to postpone their previous two matches due to a shortage of players, FC Buscots bunced back by beating pole sitters Melksham Cosmos 4-3.

Luke Enderby’s hat-trick and Jake Waters singles cancelled out goals from Jason Hull, Alex Shaftoe and Callum Cooper (penalty).

The all-Melksham affair at the Beeches between Miller Sports A and Sportzcoach Dragonz United went the way of the former, courtesy of a 4-1 success.

Richard Moules’ goal for Miller separated the teams at half time.

Scott Boyd doubled the hosts’ lead before Dean Moore got Sportzcoach back in it.

Further goals from Jacob O’Keeffe and Paul Walker sealed victory for Sports.

North Star completed an early double over Christian Malford with a well-deserved 6-1 home win.

Malford were hampered by losing four players to a broken-down car but took an early lead through David Brown.

But Mickey Taraskevics’ hat-trick, Declan Blandford’s brace and Jamal Chevolleau wrapped up the win for Star.

Talbot claimed a 4-3 triumph over Sutton Benger after building up a 4-0 lead thanks to goals from Tommy Ludford twice, Paul Green and Aaron Clegg.

Goals from Chris Miles and James Weston, twice, ensured a close finish.
