WITH the top two sides in Division Three missing out on a fixture, Tony Couch’s Grapes United took full advantage of the situation when they visited Trowbridge Wanderers (Sunday).

With no win in their previous three matches Wanderers knew that they would be up against it and so it proved as Grapes with an 8-0 success maintained their 100 per cent start, by virtue of a seventh straight win that took them to the top of the standings.

Grapes led 4-0 at the break courtesy of a Nick Ridout treble and a Lee Fielding single.

Second-half goals were scored by Fielding, who bagged another two to complete his own three timer, Mikki Harrison and substitute Tony Couch who rolled back the years with a first goal for many years.

Club 54, who have not played for three weeks and not won since they beat Cannings Rangers 9-1 back in early October were just grateful to get back to playing with a trip to Cavalier FC and they would have been buoyed by the result as they returned from Calne with maximum points under their belt thanks to a 4-2 win.

Goals for Jake Herd and Marc Sheppard helped Club 54 recover after falling behind to Dan Rance’s opener for the Cavalier.

Adil Bakali’s second-half double opened up a three goal led for Club 54 and although Antony Butler pulled a goal back for Cavalier it was little more than a consolation as the visitors held on to take all three points.

A rare home game for Westbury Conservative Club saw them claim their second win of the season, a 4-1 victory over Cannings Rangers being their second on home soil and followed their 7-1 success over London Road from late October.

A first goal of the season for Matt Harrison gave the Cons club the lead, but his effort was cancelled out by Jason Greenidge who scored for a fifth successive game.

The second half saw the Cons club regain the lead through Frankie McEntegart and once they got their noses back in front they moved up a gear and added a third thanks to a second from McEntegart and they secured their win when Tom Davis netted their fourth of the morning.
