WHEN Melksham Forest Community Centre and The Mallard met at the start of December, it was the latter who took the spoils in their Division Two encounter courtesy of a 3-1 win that saw them end a five-match losing run.

The Foresters’ would have expected the worst going into the return match, especially after they suffered a thumping 11-0 loss to Oakhill last weekend.

Melksham were much improved from a week ago, and although they were beaten 2-1 courtesy of a last-minute winner, the display would have pleased manager Steve Wakefield.

Mark Adams' goal for the Mallard separated the teams at the break.

Brently Roberts restored parity for Melksham and for a while it looked as if the points would be shared but that was until the final minute when Mark Lazenby struck a last-gasp winner for the Mallard.

Corsham Centre Youth’s 6-1 victory over Old Road FC saw them stretch their unbeaten run since joining the league in 2013 to 34 league and cup matches.

Darrin Moss, Mark Sharratt, Luke Barrie, Ben Thomson, Stuart Tutty and Lewis McCarron shared the Centre’s goal. Matt Croston's consolation for Old Road was a spectacular strike, but it couldn’t help his team deny the winners their seventh win on the spin.

White Horse B may have picked up their first point of the campaign last Sunday following a 2-2 draw will Miller Sports B, but they were unable to build on that success as a 8-2 loss at home to a resurgent Oakhill side handed them their ninth loss in ten outings.

Robbie Burton, Tom Webb and Jordan Tarrant hit doubles, Chris Leonard and Callum Eacott’s singles made up the eight. Tim Beecham and Sam Robbins replied.
