THE S.K. Fruits Ltd-sponsored Chippenham & District Sunday League saw many of their scheduled fixtures lost to waterlogged pitches as the torrential rain of the previous day.

On the plus side and, unlike this stage of the season last term when all the fixtures were wiped out, 2015 kicked-off with 10 matches beating the elements.

Two of those games were in the Premier Division, the pick of the two being the fixture between local rivals FC Constitutional and Prestige Bodyworks that saw the latter replace Corsham CC Wildcats at the top of the standings after a 4-1 victory.

Prestige, who had already beaten their hosts 7-1 this term, led after 45 minutes through a Adam O’Keeffe goal.

The second half was a little more comfortable for Tyrone Prades' side once Ben Pring had doubled their advantage. Mike Few's audacious effort from the halfway line made it 3-0 before Craig Fisher added his team's fourth of the morning.

Ben Mannings, making his season’s debut for the Cons, marked his appearance with a stunning late consolation but his 25 yard drive was a case of too little, too late.

The Castle FC may not have made the best start to the defence of their Premier division title, but Tom Perkins side are starting to get their act together.

A 6-2 victory at Goatacre CC FC in the first of back-to-back games for the teams moved them up to fifth place and, if they could build on a three-match unbeaten run, they may yet feature in the race to become champions.

Castle had the points sewn up at the break as goals from Dan Sloan, Jack Fisher from the penalty spot and a Gary Campbell brace put them 4-0 up.

Goatacre rallied in the second period with Matt Smart grabbing a double for the villagers, but his goals were scant consolation as two more for Gary Campbell took his tally to four for the game and sealed victory for the Castle.
