AFTER beating North Star 7-1 at the start of December, Division One leaders Potterne CFC would have been forgiven had they taken a cautious approach to their reverse clash with Mark Clark’s side who, after defeats in three of their last four games, are tumbling down the table at a rate of knots.

Potterne, ahead of a meeting with FC Buscots, produced the perfect result as an 8-0 win allowed them to open up 15-point gap on their rivals ahead of next week's heavyweight showdown.

Steven House put Potterne ahead, Neil Clark made it 2-0 before Ben House scored from the penalty spot for 3-0.

A second from Clark put Craig Fisher’s side 4-0 up at the break. Steve House, Ben House, Neil Clark all added to their first half goals and Simon Drewitt’s single made up the winners' eight.

Carl Gale had the chance to score his first goal for the club he was given a chance from the penalty spot with the score at 7-0, but he saw his effort saved by the Star’s keeper Ollie Moore.

A 6-0 defeat for Sutton Benger at home to Sportzcoach Dragonz United was the villagers' tenth loss in 12 outings and leaves them just one point clear of the drop zone ahead of crucial games with North Star and Trowbridge Town Supporters Club.

The win for Sportzcoach moved them into second place, neither team were able to force an opening in the first 45 minutes but, once Dan Kirk turned in a 50 yard cross from Joe Hargreaves to put Sportzcoach ahead, the floodgates opened up.

Dan Sibley doubled the lead and a second from Kirk made it 3-0. Jordan Evans added number four with Sibley’s second of the morning making it 5-0. Not to be outdone, Evans bagged his second of the games to complete the 6-0 win.
