A TENTH straight victory for Ben Redford’s Bremhill View FC saw the Calne-based side maintain their three-point advantage over Worton & Cheverell at the summit of Division Two.

Bremhill faced an in-form Oakhill side, who were bidding for a fourth successive victory. But, despite a few nervy moments, Bremhill ran out convincing 6-2 winners.

Bremhill took the lead inside the opening minute, player/manager Redford putting them 1-0 up.

Oakhill came straight back at their hosts and restored parity, Robbie Burton heading home to square things up.

A second from Redford regain the lead for Bremhill and they opened up a 4-1 advantage thanks to Redford’s hat-trick goal and a first of the game for Jake Gleed.

Callum Eacott pulled a goal back for Oakhill before half time with a well-taken free kick, but his effort was just a consolation as second-half goals from Jake Gleed and Billy Gleed made up Bremhill’s half dozen.

A loss for Worton & Cheverell at this stage of the season at FC North Wiltshire could have had an effect on their remaining games.

However, the game at Leafy Lane saw them end a three-match winless run with a 5-1 triumph that saw them take all three points in a hard-fought game to move within three points of leaders Bremhill View.

North Wilts were quickest off the mark chasing for the opener but the Worton defence, led by captain Danny Williams, and the big figure of Ben Strange in goal kept North Wilts bay until it was Worton who stole the lead when Chris O’Donovan fired into the bottom corner from 18 yards.

Chris O’Donovan ran on to a through ball from his striking partner Matty Minnis to double the lead and a third was added by Jonathan Cole fired a shot across the keeper to take his tally to seven from five games.

The second half saw North Wilts come back into the game and it became a little more physical for the away team with more free kicks given away as tempers ran a little high.

However a break in the game came when Minnis ran on to a ball from O’Donovan to slot home his first of the game.

The game was well and truly over when Minnis made it 5-0 with a deft touch over the keeper from outside the box North Wilts scored the consolation in the last minute from a free kick knocked in by Dan Deacon.
