FIERCE rivals FC Buscots and Division One pacesetters Potterne CFC squared up at Beversbrook for their first meeting of the season.

Buscots, who went in to the game with the only 100 per cent record in the division, saw that disappear as Potterne, who had a 15-point lead over their rivals prior to kick-off extended that to 18 thanks to their 5-0 win.

Goals from Neil Clark and Darren Brown gave Potterne a 2-0 half-time lead.

Half time substitute Craig Townsend made it 3-0 before Wayne House added number four.

Potterne finished things off in style, their fifth goal was something special, although substitute Carl Gale’s finish may not have been the best, the build-up that presented the youngster his first-ever goal had to be admired as it saw the ball passed through the Buscots players about 40 times before Gale tapped in to put the icing on a fine Potterne display.

With just one win from five previous matches ahead of their meeting with Sportzcoach Dragonz United, Mark Clark’s North Star side, who lost once in their opening seven games were looking for a change in fortunes, but once again it wasn’t to be as Sportzcoach came from 2-1 down to keep their promotion hopes alive with a 3-2 win.

Declan Blandford’s opener for the Star was cancelled out by Dan Sibley, who made it one apiece from the penalty spot. Jack Taylor regained the lead for North Star only for Mark Smith to get Sportzcoach level for a second time.

Dan Sibley scored his second to seal victory for Sportzcoach after being set up by Sean Meer, who missed chances of his own to win it for the Melksham-based side.

Melksham's FC Pig & Whistle saw their unbeaten five-match run come to an end at Talbot FC whose 4-2 success gave them their first win in three and completed a double over the Pig, who they had beaten 5-3 back in September.

Talbot were two up thanks to a Dean Fry double, but the Pig & Whistle got themselves back on level terms prior to half time, Ashley Fletcher scoring both for Richard Allen’s side, one being a 30 yard thunderbolt.

Talbot reclaimed the lead in the second period when Stuart Windsor put them 3-2 up and a second from Winsdor sealed what in the end was a fine win for the Calne side.
