THE top game in Division Two should have been the one at Meriton Avenue where title favourites Corsham Centre Youth went toe to toe with Rowdy Cow Rowde FC who, despite suffering back-to-back losses had every chance of ending the Centre’s eight match winning run.

For a short time, that was a possibility as Rowde took a 2-0 lead before Centre turned things around to win 5-2 and claim a ninth straight win.

Robbie Whyte and Rory Collins put the 2-0 ahead. Rowdy Cow were totally committed, throwing bodies in front of the ball and giving the Centre no space.

Centre made a positional change in bringing the experienced James Lye back into defence and it was Lye who scored to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half was saw the Centre dominate with Adam Shipman and Lewis McCarron running the midfield and Liam Ralph posing numerous problems out on the wing. Darrin Moss got on the end of across on 50 minutes to net the equaliser. On 70 minutes Moss made it 3-2.

Ten minutes from time a Ralph run and cross saw a deft flick from Shipman go in at the near post to make it 4-2.

Arguably the best goal of the game saw a through ball from McCarron brought down exquisitely by Moss and the ensuing volley saw the ball powered into the net for his third and the Centre's fifth.

Referee Neil Fautley had an excellent game in the middle.

Bath Road and Oakhill FC were involved in a seven-goal thriller that saw the former trail three times before grabbing a late goal to claim a 4-3 triumph.

Robbie Burton saw his opener for Oakhill cancelled out by Tom Sigee and that was how things were at half time. Callum Eacott reclaimed the lead for Oakhill only for Bath Road to level again via Rich Hudson.

A second from Burton put Oakhill 3-2 up, but back came Bath Road with Lee Grant tying things up at three each.

With both teams searching for a winner it was Bath Road who got it when they went in front for the first time in the game, Matt White scoring what proved to be the winner to give them a 4-3 success.

It was a case of David versus Goliath at Awdry Avenue, where second-from-bottom Melksham Forest Community Centre hosted leaders Worton & Cheverell and, as expected, there was no upset with Worton claiming a 6-1 win in a game that was played in an excellent sporting manner by both teams.

Jon Cole’s opener for Worton was cancelled out by Daryl Ward who scored from the penalty spot to restore parity for the Foresters.

The hosts'joy was shortlived as Matty Minnis regained the lead for Worton.

The second period was more profitable for Worton as they bagged four unanswered goals, Kyle Davies making it 3-1 before a second from Minnis took it to 4-1.

The hosts came back into the game for a short while, but they were unable to force an opening and Worton win was completed thanks to a second of the morning for Davies and a Kieren Dickinson’s effort that made up the half dozen.

Not having won in nine games, Old Road FC were looking for an upturn in fortune when they visited Miller Sports B.

However it wasn’t too be as a poor first 45 minutes, that saw them trail 5-0, didn’t do them any favours.

Although they had the better of a second period in which they scored three goals of their own it couldn’t prevent them from suffered a 6-3 loss.

Miller were rampant in the first half and led through a Harry Waylan hat-trick and singles from Josh Thornton and Brandan Knight.

With the floodgates open, Miller threatened to run riot even more so after Tim Knight had put them 6-0 up, but that wasn’t the case as hat-trick hero Waylan was sent off.

With the numerical advantage Old Road struck back, James House chipping in their first, Matt Croston firing home from 20 yards to give them a second and a second from House, who curled in direct from a corner, bought some respectability to the final scoreline.

Things went to plan for promotion hopefuls Bremhill View at basement side White Horse A. Having beaten their hosts 7-3 back in December, Ben Redford’s side were in the goals again as a 5-0 win saw them extend their winning run to 11 matches.

Bremhill made the perfect start and were one up in the first minute when Caner Ozkaya fired home.

They had to wait until the second half to double their lead and that came when Mark Durbin put through his own goal. Ben Redford made it 3-0 and goals for Steve Allison and Billy Gleed made up the five.
