HAVING beaten their fierce rivals FC Buscots 5-0 a few weeks ago, Division One table toppers Potterne completed a quick fire double over Mark Camacho’s team.

Craig Fisher’s side had to work a lot harder for the points second time around and only sealed a 2-1 victory with a goal in the last few minutes.

Neil Clark’s goal midway through the first half gave Potterne the lead at the interval; Phil Little got Buscots back on level terms on 70 minutes.

With a few minutes left Clark bagged his second of the match to wrap up victory number 15 of the season for the villagers.

A strong second half performance saw second placed Melksham Cosmos beat struggling Christian Malford 8-3 at Stanley Park.

Cosmos started strongly and after five minutes had built up a three-goal lead.

A nice move between Alex Shaftoe and Jason Hull led to the latter opening the scoring in the second minute.

A fierce long range shot from Joe Griffiths a minute later gave them their second and a mistake by the Malford keeper in the fourth minute saw Alex Shaftoe score his first of the day and give Cosmos a 3-0 lead.

Malford pulled a goal back on 14 minutes when Scott Evans converted Simon Pittman’s cross from the right, before Simon Pittman’s strike made it 3-2 going into the interval.

Although Malford started the second half brightly, Cosmos stretched their lead in the 55th minute a solo run past two defenders saw Chris Berrelly score and extend the Cosmos lead to 4-2.

Two minutes later, the referee judged Alex Shaftoe had been brought down in the area and Marc Bowden slotted home the penalty to give Cosmos a 5-2 lead.

Hull bagged his second in the 63rd minute after some nice work by Phil Carter, before Shaftoe went on to complete his hat-trick to send Cosmos 8-2 up.

Malford did not give up and in the 80th minute Scott Evans headed home from David Brown’s headed pass to reduce the lead to 8-3.

For the first fifteen minutes of their game at home to North Star, Pheasant looked the better of the two sides, however, after George Bettles’ strike, Star shone and claimed a 4-0 success.

Adam Welsh made it 2-0 and Bettles scored his second and the Star’s third of a first half that couldn’t finish quick enough for the hosts.

Pheasant improved in the second half but couldn’t deny their guests a fourth when Bettles netted from the spot to complete his hat-trick.

Talbot and Sportzcoach Dragons United shared six goals at the Recreation Ground with the former fighting back on three occasions.

Sean Meer opened the scoring for Sportzcoach, before Nathan West levelled.

Tom Smith regained the lead for Sportzcoach only for Dave Herring’s first of the season restoring parity.

A second from Smith put Sportzcoach ahead for a third time but back came Talbot with a second from Herring to make it 3-3.
