PREMIER Division The Castle FC and Corsham Centre Youth, from Division Two, set up a rerun of last term's AM Print & Copy-sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Cup Final after seeing off the challenge from respective opponents Corsham CC Wildcats and AFC Melksham.

Centre, who were in Division Four when they ended Castle’s hopes of a League and Cup treble last term courtesy of a 4-3 victory on penalties, will be hoping that when they meet in April’s final they can repeat the form that saw them destroy top flight opponents AFC Melksham 7-2.

Melksham scored first through Sean Fordham after two minutes and it didn’t not look good for a Centre team who had conceded six in their last game and their opposition had scored nine in theirs.

On 10 minutes a great ball from 17 year old Lewis McCarron saw Adam Shipman head home to level matters, within five minutes a Ben Thomson corner saw Shipman rise above the defence to head home number two.

A revitalised James Lye who ran the front line with Liam Ralph struck a wonder strike from the edge of the area for number three.

Within five minutes Lye had his second and five minutes after an intricate move involving Adie Webb and Shipman saw Ben Thomson score number five.

Liam Ralph then beat two men and made his way along the bye line his cross was deflected into the net by the unfortunate Ian Dowell to make the score 6-1 at half time.

With strong performances from all the team and the back four including the return of the ageless Jason Brook-Stephens and Stuart Tutty saw a resolute Centre bring on 17 year old Josh Bright, whose first contribution was to cross for Adam Shipman to knock home his third and the Centre’s seventh.

Melksham scored late in the game to make it 7-2 but by then the game had been won and Sean Fordham’s second of the morning was little more than a consolation.

The Centre’s win was tainted late on when Adam Shipman received his second yellow from referee Sam Gooding and was sent off.

Despite having many players missing and having to use their fringe players for their semi-final clash away at cup favourites Corsham CC Wildcats, Tom Perkins' Castle FC may want to use the same 11 players for the remainder of the season as they came out on top, winning a thriller 4-3.

Last term's beaten finalists went into the game as underdogs but stunned the Wildcats by taking a 2-0 lead, Jack Fisher putting them in front before Doug Dickson struck a wonder goal to make it 2-0.

Adam Mitchell got the Wildcats back in the tie prior to half time. After the break it was Wildcats who were quickest to get into top gear and when Sam Jordon squared things up it was game on and with Wildcats in the ascendency it was little surprise that they went 3-2 up, Dan King scoring to turn things around.

Castle never gave up and they got themselves back on level terms, Matt Tilley scoring from the penalty spot to make it three apiece.

With time running out it looked as if the game would go to extra time that was until the Castle were awarded a free kick on 88 minute .

Up stepped Matt Tilley to send an unbelievable strike into the top corner and with it book his team a repeat meeting with the cup holders at the end of April.
