THE only Premier Division fixture at the weekend saw White Horse A FC host old adversaries Somerford FC and, having beaten their guests 1-0 on the opening day of the campaign Clive Black’s side completed the double over the villagers.

Virtually 10 months to the day after Somerford were on the wrong end of an 8-0 thrashing that saw their opponents, White Horse, pinch second spot in Division One off of them on goal difference.

Now in the top flight, and despite less at stake, it was the same scoreline, as the Horse piled more misery on a struggling Somerford.

The tone for the morning was set early on as makeshift strikers Ismail Negraj and Paul Beavers combined well to firstly set up Jordan Gullis and then Nick Mead in the fourth and 12th minutes respectively.

A plucky visiting side did their upmost to make a contest of it, but when Mead doubled his tally in the 28th minute and Gullis did likewise 11 minutes later it was all but game over.

The second half saw no let up as Lewis Porter got in on the act, chipping Adam Pitt in the villagers goal just seven minutes in. Mead and Gullis completed their hat-tricks in the 65th and 72nd minutes and Porter notched his brace just two minutes afterwards.

Although the floodgates threatened to open at that stage, the game petered out and sees Somerford remain firmly planted in the bottom two, whilst White Horse (Sunday) A FC return to third spot, for the time being at least.
