WITH long-time leaders The Grapes United clinching the Third Division title after their thumping 10-0 win over FC Lacock, the race for the runners up spot is between Stonewood Sundays BFC and FC Bradford.

With the two teams meeting at Yatton Road it was little surprise that the honours were shared as they fought out a 2-2 draw.

The match was a classic game of two halves, with Bradford on top first half as they took a 2-0 lead, however Stonewood had the better of the second period as they turned things around to claim their point.

Bradford took the lead when Mark Robinson cut in from the left-hand side and smashed the ball into the top right-hand corner with the keeper stranded.

Steve Bryant doubled Bradford’s lead with a fancy flick that looped into the far left corner and they then had multiple chances to extend their advantage, with Jim Meade being guilty of missing a sitter.

Stonewood got on top in the second half and they reduced the deficit when along punt from a goal kick made it through the Bradford defence and with keeper Morgan Williams staying on his line, he was caught out when the ball was played back to Andy Flynn, who had a simple tap in.

Stonewood’s second came from a corner which cleared to the edge of the box, where it fell to the unmarked Mike Flynn, who took a chance at goal and his shot went right through Williams to make the final score 2-2.

Melksham-based The Grapes were crowned champions with their thumping victory over FC Lacock at the Conigre.

Leading 2-0 at the break through goals from Mikki Harrison and Nick Ridout, the floodgates opened in the second half as they his eight more unanswered goals.

Stuart Barber scored a hat-trick, Ridout added two to his first half effort and also missed a penalty as he score a three-timer.

Harrison became the third player to bag a treble with his two second half goals and a James Worsley strike made up the 10.

Nine-man Buttercross FC suffered a 7-0 loss away at Corsham Park, in what was the Butter Boys' final game of the season.

Martin Perrett rolled back the years as his first goal for a very long time gave his team the lead. Martin Gould with his first of the season made it 2-0 at the break.

Simon Young’s double and two from Kadir Ayhan made it 6-0 before Darren Applegate slammed home number seven.

Westbury Conservative Club completed their fixtures at the Leighton Sports Centre with a fine 6-0 triumph over Trowbridge Wanderers (Sunday), who had beat them 6-1 in the reverse fixture back in September.

Tom Brunning’s double and goals for Frankie McEntegart and Simon Kent had the points in the bag for the Conservative Club at half-time.

Simon Kent added goal number five and when the hosts were awarded a penalty, Kent kept his nerve and slotted home to claim a three-timer, which were also his first goals of the season and his first since he scored for the Cons’ Club in the Frome League at the start of December 2013.
