FIRST Division leaders Potterne CC FC scored two late goals as they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, coming from 2-1 down to claim a 3-2 victory over Talbot FC.

And the win was more importantly a massive three points in their battle to stay ahead of both FC Buscots and Melksham Cosmos in the title race.

Dave Herring gave Talbot the lead and although Craig Townsend restored parity for Potterne, they found themselves trailing 2-1 at the break as Aaron Clegg regained the lead for Talbot.

Potterne had to wait until the 75th minute to get back on level terms, Neil Clark making it 2-2, and it was Clark who struck the villagers' winner five minutes from time.

Melksham Cosmos suffered a blow to their hopes of clinching an automatic promotion spot after they were held to a goalless draw by local rivals Miller Sports A at the Beeches.

Cosmos, who started the game with nine players, probably had the best chances to win the clash as they were denied by the woodwork on a number of occasions and a fine performance from Miller’s keeper Alex Coombes also helped keep the score at 0-0.

After kicking off March with a 6-0 victory over North Star, promotion hopefuls FC Buscots completed the month with a resounding 9-0 triumph over the Calne-based side, which, coupled with Melksham Cosmos draw at Miller Sports A, moves them into second place.

Adam Bewley helped himself to a first half hat-trick, with Ali Bradley and Nathan Moffat goals earning them a 5-0 interval lead.

After the break, Moffat added a second of the game and Rob Drown plus a double from Jamie Walters made up their nine.

Bottom-of-the-table Trowbridge Town Supporters Club played a lot better than they have done in recent times but a spirited performance from Kevin Williams' side couldn’t prevent them from suffering a 13th loss of the season, which came at the hands of FC Pig & Whistle, who like their hosts, had the bare eleven but managed to claim a 3-1 success.

Rob O’Harrow's opening goal for the Pig was cancelled out by John Williams.

Ollie Woodland regained the lead for the Pig in the second half and the win was secured by Ashley Fletcher, whose fine finish made it 3-1.
