FC BUSCOTS went into their game at Christian Malford safe in the knowledge that a 5-2 win over Talbot FC on Thursday evening had secured them runners-up spot in Division One behind Potterne.

A defeat for Malford at Miller Sports A on the same night had condemned the villagers to relegation.

For what would be the last game of the season for both teams, Christian Malford hosted FC Buscots at Stanley Park, which saw both teams ring the changes throughout their starting line-ups.

Buscots got off to the perfect start, with stand-in striker Nathan Moffat finding space in the box to make it 1-0 after having his first attempt saved by the Malford keeper.

It wasn't long before Buscots doubled their lead, when Ali Bradley's drive from outside of the box found the back of the net.

Bradley turned provider for Buscots' third when he played in Mark Camacho who made no mistake to make it 3-0.

Minutes later Moffat was brought down on the edge of the box, which allowed Chris Webb to curl home an effort to grab his first of the morning and his first for the club.

Buscots continued to dominate as the second half got going, and it was soon 5-0 after Rob Drown cut in from left back to unleash a strike from outside of the box which found the top corner.

Soon afterwards, Ashley Rake found space on the edge of the box, with his well placed toe punt finding the bottom corner of the Malford goal.

As the game wore on, complacency started to set in and an error from centre back Adam Bewley allowed Jamie Cutting through on goal to calmly slot past Luke Enderby to make it 6-1.

After the restart, some good play down the right hand side gave Nick Oram the chance to get forward from right back and he finished off the move in clinical fashion to restore Buscots' six goal advantage.

After a switch of goalkeepers, Enderby found himself with a chance to score Buscots' eighth. The Malford keeper did well to keep out the initial effort, but Jordan Dixon was on hand to drive home the rebound for his first of the season.

Straight from the kick off, another lapse in concentration from replacement keeper Bewley saw Stuart White score from the half way line to make it 8-2.

With both teams tiring and unable to bring any subs on, Webb found himself free on the right hand side of the box before drilling home his second of the morning.

With minutes remaining, Buscots did well to switch the play from left to right, and Webb completed his hat trick with another well struck effort into the opposite corner of the goal, with the game eventually finishing 10-2 to Buscots.

Miller Sports A who have struggled for much of the season due to a shortage of players had no such problems for their final match of the campaign at home to a North Star outfit who had beaten them 7-2 earlier in the year.

On this occasion the teams fought out a fine 2-2 draw that saw Miller come from two down to claim a share of the spoils.

Goals from Adam Welsh and Karl Sharratt had put North Star 2-0 ahead. Miller produced a fantastic fight back to earn their point, their first coming from a well-worked move, a back heel from Mike Stevens to Dan Horgan was crossed to Ashley Monaghan who headed home to half the deficit.

Miller’s equaliser came from the spot, Ashley Monaghan restoring parity from 12 yards after Will Gale had won a penalty for the Miller Boys’.

The first of back-to-back matches between Pheasant FC and Sportzcoach Dragons United went the way of Pheasant who after a 9-1 win in the first meeting will be hoping that they have some goals in reserve for when they face Dragons again next Sunday.

Shahram Hemmati tapped home Pheasant’s opener and only a few good stop from keeper Del Llewellyn preserved his teams lead before a first goal for the club from James Leach made it 2-0.

Craig Archard scored from the penalty spot for 3-0 and Richie Bolter added a fourth before half time.

The second half saw Bolter bag another four to take his tally for the game to five and Pheasant’s nine was made up courtesy of a second of the morning for Hemmati.

Dan Sibley scored Dragonz consolation and Sean Meer had a dreadful penalty attempt save by Llewellyn.
