CORSHAM CC Wildcats were last night crowned S.K. Fruits Ltd-sponsored Chippenham & DIstrict League Premier Division champions.

After their 5-4 victory over leaders Prestige Bodyworks at the weekend Frank Rogers’ side knew that a point from their home meeting with Somerford would be good enough for them to return to the summit for the first time since the end of last November.

Wildcats, who in February edged the reverse fixture with a nervy 3-1 win, made no mistake as they put their opponents to the sword.

A Sam Jordan-inspired display helped Rogers’ Wildcats to a resounding 15-2 success that saw them put the icing on what has been a fine first season in charge for Rogers whose team also reached the semi-final stages of both the WG Parr Trophy and Knockout Cup.

Jordan took his tally for the season to 26 in just 13 appearances after helping himself to an eight-timer which saw him end as the club’s top scorer just one ahead of Adam Mitchell who scored two.

Darrin Moss grabbed a double and a goal each for Ed Jones and Nick Chandler made up the 15.

With the goals flying in at one end, Wildcats were looking to keep their first clear sheet of the season, but two well-taken goals in the last five minutes from Sam Tinson and Jordan Welsby denied them that and gave Somerford some consolation from the night.

After the match Wildcats’ captain Dan King and his side were presented with the Premier Division winners’ trophy.
