THE curtain finally came down on their 49th season of the S.K. Fruits-sponsored Chippenham & DIstrict Sunday Football League on Wednesday evening when they held their presentation night and annual meeting at the Gladstone Club.

The big winners were third division Crossblades FC, who pocketed £250 after topping the fair play charts.

Simon McCarty’s side were one of 29 clubs or individuals who were rewarded for their achievements over the season on a night when thanks to sponsorship from S.K. Fruits and the Gazette & Herald they presented nearly £2000 in cash and vouchers.

The general meeting was preceded by the league’s presentation night, presenting the league's divisional winners and runners up with their trophies along with cheques totaling £625.

Corsham CC Wildcats finished an exciting campaign top of the Premier Division, picking up £125 with Prestige Bodyworks collecting £50 as runners up.

Potterne CFC and FC Buscots will be joining the top flight next term as winners and runners up from Division One.

Bremhill View headed Division Two with Corsham Centre Youth taking second spot.

Pole position in the third division went to The Grapes United FC from Melksham who beat FC Bradford to top spot.

All divisional winners apart from Castle FC received £100 each while the runners up collected £50 each.

Buttercross FC's combined average mark of 8.30 from both referees and fellow clubs saw them beat the 42 other sides to the accolade of Fair Play winners for the season.

Along with the £100 for winning their respective division, they collected a further bonus of £150 as overall winners taking their bounty for the evening to a healthy £250.

Other divisional winners claimed £100 a piece; Goatacre CC FC topped the Premier Division, Pheasant FC headed Division One, Corsham Centre Youth took the honours in Division Three.

There were also cash a bonus for the sides who finished in second and third place in their respective divisions. White Horse (Sunday) A (Premier), Christian Malford (One), White Horse (Sunday) B (Two) and Cavalier (Three) all received £75.

Prestige Bodyworks (Premier), Melksham Forest Community Centre (Two), Westbury Conservative Club (Three) netted £50 each. Miller Sports A and Talbot FC finished joint-third in Division one so received £25 each.

Chairman Andy Hillier and Brown presented the awards and cheques to the successful sides.

The League welcomed six new sides, 91-92 FC, Calne United, Fox & Hound FC, Semington FC, The Dursley Arms FC and Warminster Wanderers all of whom will hopefully line up when the 2015/16 campaign gets underway on Sunday, September 6.

It was also announced that Chippenham-based Shoestrings had agreed to become its main sponsor for the next two seasons and that Karen Schneider would be taking on the role of Registrations Secretary from Adam Bewley.
