PREMIER Division champions Corsham CC Wildcats suffered a 2-0 defeat at The Castle FC who looked to be on the move after suffering an opening day defeat.

But back to back wins means they are one of three teams with six points to their name.

Ben Jenks' thunderbolt from 20 yards out into the top corner on five minutes gave Castle the lead and the points were wrapped up 15 minutes from time by Jack Fisher, whose cool chip made it 2-0.

Their first Premier Division results of the 2015-16 season proved to be no guide whatsoever for the clash between AFC Melksham and White Horse A FC at Christie Miller, as the latter ran out 3-1 victors to put the two sides level on three points.

Despite a good win last week, the Melksham side struggled to breakdown a resolute Horse, who themselves were desperate to bounce back from an opening-day defeat at the hands of Prestige Bodyworks (now Pack Horse FC).

A game that had ebbed and flowed for 36 minutes finally sprang to life, as Jordan Gullis latched on to a raking through ball from Tom Oakley.

The winger outpacing his marker before finishing clinically past Rob Brown to give the guests a 1-0 lead at half time.

The second period started in much the same fashion as the first had, with neither side able to dominate, but it was Dale Rowland that proved pivotal, as he continued his return to fitness, having missed pre-season through injury.

The striker won a penalty for his side with 20 minutes to go, Sean O’Brien slotting home from 12 yards to make it 2-0, and then Rowland got on the score sheet himself just 5 minutes later to put the game out of reach for the hosts.

A consolation for AFC Melksham came via a deflected Callum Demkiv shot in the last 10 minutes, but the Horse backline stood strong and saw the game out to get there season off the ground.

In a game littered with red and yellow cards, Potterne CFC, who despite being reduced to nine men after they lost James Campbell to two yellows and goalkeeper Craig Campbell to a straight red, managed to claim a 2-0 win over a Goatacre CC FC, who also finished with 10 men on the field after having had Simon Dance dismissed. Neil Clark scored a goal in each half to earn Potterne their first win of the season.

A fantastic second-half performance from The Pack Horse FC (formerly Prestige Bodyworks) proved too much for opponents Melksham Cosmos who after trailing 3-2 at the break slumped to a 6-2 loss.

Ben Pring’s penalty for Pack Horse was cancelled out by Marc Bowden who scored from the spot to level for Cosmos.

Alex Pring headed Pack Horse back in front only for Joe Griffiths to bring Cosmos level again. Craig Fisher’s goal before half time saw Pack Horse lead for a third time.

After the break Adam O’Keefe made it 4-2, Zac Klukowski and a second from O’Keefe wrapped up a second win of the new team for Pack Horse who now lead the standings.

Three goals in each half earned Cons FC a 6-2 victory at Westbury Rangers.

Cons were two up inside 12 minutes thanks to goals from Craig Garner and Josh Mannings. Marc Lanfear reduced the deficit for Rangers when he found the net on 16 minutes, however and own goals from Rangers keeper Gavin Carpenter gave Cons a 3-1 interval lead.

After the break Callum Hotine got Rangers back in the game with a 55th-minute effort, but three minutes later substitute Steve Coleman had put Cons back in control.

Ryan Lewis on 65 minutes and Matt Garner’s goal in the 82nd minute completed the win.
