A ROBBIE Burton-inspired performance took Oakhill to the top of Division Two on goal difference from The Grapes.

Burton was on fire against a struggling Miller Sports B side who had no answer to their opponents who hit nine unanswered goals.

Burton took his league tally to 14 in five outings following his six-timer, Jordan Tarrant, Kieran Willis and Ethan Henwood shared the other three.

The Grapes United may have suffered their first defeat in 23 outings last weekend, but the Melksham based side got back to winning ways thanks to a 3-2 success at Corsham Oak, who were hoping to do what FC Bradford did last weekend but couldn’t quite manage to upset the odds for a second successive Sunday.

Things started well for Corsham as Carl Johnson put them in front, Grapes’ then moved through the gears as Steve Toogood headed them level from a corner.

Nigel Hall rolled back the years as he put the Grapes 2-1 up and when Edwin Escott headed a third for the Grapes from another corner it was business as usual for James Worsley’s side.

Corsham did rally in the second half and managed to put a goal back with Kevin Bance scoring from a Joe Masson cross, but Grapes were never really threatened as they held out for a much-needed win.

FC Bradford may have been top dogs last weekend following their win over The Grapes United but a week later, Wayne Duggan’s side were brought back down to earth with a bang and were lucky to come away with a point from their 3-3 home draw with Sutton Benger, who were 3-1 up at one stage before Bradford fought back to take a share of the spoils.

Goals from Ben Butterfield and Joe Merriman silenced the home fans before Steve Bryant latched onto a long punt from keeper Morgan Williams to reduce the arrears before the break.

Nathan Todd regained a two-goal advantage for Benger, but Bradford gave themselves a fighting chance when Bryaant scored from an Ashley Styles assist.

With three minutes left Styles found the net again after being set up by Steve Rose to make it 3-3.

Lavington Rangers picked up a second win of the season, a 4-0 win over The Mallard moved Pete Drew’s side into fifth place in the standing. Jamie Hall and Jacob Rogers scored in the first half with Rogers added a second before Cullen Wylie unleashed a 30-yard wonder strike to make up winners quartet.

A hastily-rearranged match saw FC North Wiltshire who were originally due a free weekend travel to basement side Old Road FC who wee due to face Christian Malford. North Wilts were rewarded for their efforts in getting a fixture played with a 3-2 win.

A Kyle McKenna own goal along with a Tom Watchman effort put North Wilts 2-0 up at the break. Eddie Mallard halved the deficit for Old Road with a brilliant free kick.

James Black regained a two-goal cushion for North Wilts and although Matt Poole scored a second for Old Road it wasn’t enough as North Wilts held on to claim a 3-2 win.
