With the battle between the top two teams in the Premier Division lost to the weather it gave the chasing pack the change to close the gap on leaders Goatacre CC FC and leapfrog second-placed AFC Melksham.

The match of the day paired last term's top-flight winners Corsham CC Wildcats with runners-up The Pack Horse and the Wildcats were on top form as they tore their opponents apart to claim a resounding 7-0 success.

After not playing for three weeks the Wildcats would have been forgiven had they made a sluggish start, but that wasn’t the case as they dominated from the first whistle and were in charge once Dan Sibley had given them the lead.

Alex Hiller made it 2-0 and Adam Mitchell added a third before half time. After the break a second from Mitchell took it to 4-0, two more goals from Dan Sibley saw him complete his hat-trick ahead of Mitchell who fired home the Wildcats' seventh of the morning to claim a three timer and take his tally for the season to 11.

Castle FC, who claimed the Premier Division title two seasons ago, are looking good to mount a serious challenge for silverware again this season.

Nathan Emm’s side visited Cons FC, who had beaten them 3-2 on the opening day of the season and thanks to an excellent second-half display they came from 2-0 down to claim a 6-3 win.

With no goalkeeper available for this tricky fixture Emm donned the gloves and didn’t disappoint with a sublime second-half display that proved that the joint manager can play anywhere.

It didn’t start well for Emm, who after five minutes found himself in no mans land to allow Josh Mannings to score from distance and give Cons the lead.

Things got worse 10 minutes later when Lewis Ryan doubled Cons’ lead, this time Emm was lobbed with a cross come shot that sailed in over his head.

Castle bossed possession but could not break down a high pressing Cons side, who came close to making it 3-0 when a mix up at the back gave Cons a shooting chance but Emm pulled off a fine finger tip save.

This proved as a turning point as minutes later Jack Fisher knocked in a rebound off a Jay Walters shot. Castle were rampant now and pushing to get level, the goal came on 41 minutes this time Walters finishing well after being played through by Liam Hill.

With the wind in their sails, Castle killed the game off in the first 10 minutes of the second half with three quick goals, Walters with a fine chip, Gary Campbell picking up a rebound and Rob Drown scoring a powerful header.

Walters picked up his third and Castle's sixth on 68 minutes.

With the game at 6-2 Cons were throwing everything at Castle but three saves in the space of 10 mintues from Emm kept them at bay, Castle only conceding from the spot in the 80th minute after another Moffat handball gifted Cons’ a penalty which Craig Garner scored.
