LACK of finishing let down Christian Malford in their home game at Stanley Park as visitors Old Road opened up a six-point gap at the bottom of Division Two with a 1-0 victory.

After a goalless first half in which both teams had trouble with the windy conditions it was little surprise that neither team could force an opening.

Old Road were also finding the wind difficult in the second half but forced Malford keeper Jason Frayling in to a couple of early saves.

Malford then began to dominate as they found playing against the wind to their advantage, however they also found Old Road keeper Kyle McKenna in excellent form as he made several vital saves to thwart Malford.

Old Road finally broke the deadlock when Andy Rose ran on to a loose ball inside the Malford half and drove a fierce shot into the net to give them their 1-0 win.

FC Lacock & Corsham Oak were involved in a six-goal thriller which ended three-apiece after Lacock had thrown away a 3-1 lead.

Ryan Ross saw his opener for Lacock cancelled out by Josh May, a second from Ross regained the lead for the villagers and sent them in at half time 2-1 up.

Lacock started the second half as they had finished the first with Ryan Ross adding a third to complete his hat-trick.

Kadir Ayhan reduced the deficit for Corsham and for a long time it looked as if it would only be a consolation, but with the last kick of the game Nathan Lynch rifled home a wonder strike to snatch a point for Corsham.

With Grapes United in Sunday Cup action Lavington Rangers thanks to a 6-1 win away at Miller Sports B are now the sole owners of the number one spot in the standings.

Miller Sports led through a Ben Cooper goal but found themselves 3-1 down at the break, George Taplin restored parity for Lavington and they went 2-1 up thanks to a Jacob Rogers penalty, a second for Rogers increased their lead further.

Jacob Rogers completed his hat-trick and then added a fourth before Jamie Hall fired home Lavington’s sixth of the morning.

Sutton Benger missed out on the chance to move into an automatic promotion spot after they were beaten 4-1 at home by an FC Bradford side, who had Gary Brooks take over as manager in the absence of Wayne Duggan.

A brilliant free kick from Harry Hamlin cancelled out Chris Casey’s opener for Benger, Steve Bryant and a second from Hamlin put Bradford 3-1 up at the break and a second-half finish from Bryant wrapped up the points for Bradford.
