HAVING not played a home fixture since late October, Somerford, who have only featured in five Division One matches this term, made a return to action by welcoming bottom of the table FC Pig & Whistle to their Great Somerford base.
And although Trevor Rawlings’ side claimed an 8-4 victory, the win wasn’t as straightforward as it would appear, with Pig leading 3-2 in the second half.
Josh Langley’s first of four gave Somerford the lead, which was cancelled out by Dudley Philpott. Langley regained the lead for the villagers, only for Damian Hansford to get Pig back on level terms for a second time.
They then shocked their hosts when Craig Berry put them in front but after that, it was all one-way traffic as the visitors who conceded five.
Langley scored a further two to take his tally to four, Antony Brown helped himself to a hat-trick and Ashley Monaghan fired in number eight, before Nassem Abourachid grabbed Pig’s fourth of the morning.
