THE fixture programme in the Shoestrings Chargrill-sponsored Chippenham & DIstrict Sunday League suffered a third week of disruption, but unlike the first two weeks of the new year when only one match was played, nine of the scheduled 21 fixtures survived the overnight rain.

One of those games saw Premier Division leaders Goatacre CC FC host The Pack Horse, who they had beaten 4-1 earlier in the season.

But ithey couldn’t recapture any of the pre-2016 form that had taken them to the summit as they suffered a 7-0 mauling.

Jamie Treweke’s penalty put Pack Horse ahead and Ben Pring doubled the advantage prior to half time.

After the break controversial goals from Treweke and Pring took it to 4-0 at which stage the hosts dropped their heads and further goals from Adam O’Keeffe, Stuart Field and Alex Pring sealed Goatacre fate.

Looking to avenge their 7-0 loss from October, FC Cons hosted the much-fancied AFC Melksham side and, following victories against last term's top flight winners and runners up, Leighton Joyce’s side would have fancied their chances of taking something from Mike Rogers title hopefuls.

But it wasn’t too be as once again it was Melksham who took the honours thanks to a 3-1 win.

Dave Macey put Melksham in front before Sean Fordham with his seventh and eighth goal of the campaign either side of the break gave Rogers men a 3-0 lead.

Scott Nash bagged a late consolation for the Cons but his effort with the last kick of the game counted for nothing.

PREMIER Division The Castle FC crashed out of the Wiltshire Sunday Cup at the quarter-final stage.

The Devizes based side were beaten 6-1 away at Salisbury League outfit Rose & Crown, Matt Tilley scoring their consolation from the penalty spot.
