A 7-0 VICTORY for Somerford over North Star FC not only saw them seal a league double over the rivals, who they beat 7-1 the last time they met, but also took Trevor Rawlings side up to second place in the standings behind leaders Corsham Centre Youth, who they play at the end of the month.

Somerford led 2-0 at the interval thanks to a Matt Spear double.

Spear took his tally for the game to four with two second-half goals and Robbie Burton opened his account for the villagers with two goals on his debut, Mark Bolton’s single making up the seven.

Bath Road and Calne BFC shared six goals and the points in what was an open end to end game in difficult conditions at Biddestone Sports Ground, with the former twice coming from behind before claiming a 3-3 draw.

Bath Road led through a Nick Manifold strike that looked to be going in before a Calne defender went to clear but knocked it beyond his own keeper.

Dean Fry restored parity for Calne and Nathan West’s effort gave them the half time lead.

After the break Bath Road equalised from a corner, Rich Hudson making a good run before volleying home from close range.

Calne regained the led when Aaron Clegg’s cross-cum-shot sailed in. The home team fought back and Matt White lashed home from close range to make it three apiece.

Bath Road had the best chances to take all three points but had an effort cleared off the line and another brilliantly saved by the Calne keeper.
