MELKSHAM-BASED Grapes United closed the gap on Division Two leaders Corsham Oak to a point following their 5-0 triumph at home to The Mallard FC.

Stuart Barber and Mikki Harrison scored in the first 45 minutes for the hosts and Nick Ridout made it 3-0.

Nigel Hall added a fourth before Ridout out bagged his second of the contest to seal Grapes' seventh win of the campaign.

FC Lacock, who have not played since they drew 3-3 with leaders Corsham Oak in early December, showed signs of rustiness in their game with FC North Wiltshire.

But once they woke from their winter slumbers they overturned a 2-0 deficit to run out 3-2 victors.

Scott Austin and James Smith, with a brilliantly-struck 25 yard free kick, put North Wilts two goals to the good before Jack Woolsgrove halved Lacock’s arrears prior to half time.

Josh Hard drew Lacock level and the turnaround was completed by player-manager Ryan Ross whose fifth goal of the season won his team the points on offer.

Leaders Corsham Oak were losing 1-0 when their match at Oakhill was abandoned on 57 minutes following the dismissal of Oakhill’s Rob Jefferies for allegedly striking an opponent which led to a fracas involving a number of players.

Up to that point the game was a keenly contested one, which could have gone either way after Josh Beard had scored from the penalty spot to give Oakhill a first-half lead.
