CAVALIER FC may have previously suffered a 3-1 defeat at Forest AFC, but a 2-1 win on home soil saw them avenge that loss and claim a third straight win.

A Leigh Blanchard tap in put the Cavalier ahead at half time, but they really should have been out of sight as they dominated the opening 45 minutes.

With the wind against them in the second half Cavalier gave away a sloppy goal straight away. Richard Plumtree’s long-range effort crept into the bottom corner and shortly after they were lucky not to concede a second as another long range effort flashed just wide of the post.

Cavalier came back to life and kept pushing on and Leigh Blanchard, Dave Young and Jack Lenaghan all went close to regaining them the lead.

In the end it was super substitute Will Elliot who is usually Cavalier’s goalkeeper, but had lost his place to the inform Leo Whitehead, who grabbed the vital winner, stabbing home from close range and wrapping up the three points.

FC St George, who defeated Calne United 9-2 in their first encounter of the season, completed a double over their rivals but they had to come from behind to claim a 2-1 success.

Mike Hedges gave Calne a 1-0 interval lead but FC St George player-manager Mike Payne restored parity and he kept his nerve to add a second from the penalty spot to hand his team victory.

Local rivals Fox & Hounds (Warminster) and Warminster Wanderers met for the second time this season.

The first meeting ended with Wanderers claiming a rare win over their former Frome & District league adversaries.

However they were unable to recapture the form that earned them a 4-3 win in back in September as Fox & Hounds claimed a comfortable 3-0 reverse, Greg Richardson scoring twice and James Wase adding the other to take his tally to 16 for the season.

Two wins in the space of four days for Semington FC helped maintain their challenge for a top two finish.

Semington who beat Forest AFC 3-2 on Thursday evening followed that success up with an 8-0 triumph at home to 91-92 FC.

Rich Allum set up Chris Dore for the opener, a deflected effort from Ollie Winchcombe doubled the lead and Dore made it 3-0 when he headed home a Ed McCormack corner.

Matty Russell bundled home the hosts fourth to lead 4-0 at the break.

A great finish from Lee Stripe made it 5-0, Rich Allum took it to 6-0 after good work from Eddie Janion and he added his second of the morning and Semington’s seventh before Bobby Mitchell finished things off for 8-0 after a well-worked one-two with Matt Jenkins.

Champions elect The Dursley Arms look to be cruising to the title.

Joe Kirkpatrick’s side followed up a crushing midweek win over 91-92 FC with a 4-1 win at home to White Horse B that saw them claim a 15th straight win and within touching distance of the winners' crown.

Dan Price grabbed himself a brace and along with singles for Leon Greenland and Macauley Taylor, The Dursley held on to their 100 per cent record. Callum Davis replied for White Horse.
