MELKSHAM-BASED The Grapes United moved a point clear of Oakhill at the top of Division Two, courtesy of a 3-3 draw with FC North Wiltshire at the Conigre.

However the hosts will see the result as a setback to their title hopes especially as they lead 3-1 at one stage.

Stuart Barber and a Nick Ridout free-kick turned things around for Grapes after Scott Austin had given North Wilts an early lead.

After the interval Grapes went 3-1 thanks to a second of the game from Barber. Scott Austin bagged his second of the morning to drag North Wilts back into the contest and the comeback was completed by James Black whose sixth goal of the season earned his team an unexpected point.

Christian Malford may be staring relegation in the face, but recent performances against top two sides The Grapes and Oakhill have given them something to cling to.

But a 5-2 loss at home to Lavington Rangers means that the villagers must win their three remaining fixtures to have any hope of staying in the division.

Jacob Rogers, Jamie Hall, Gabriel Gospodinov, Callun Wylie from the penalty spot and Jason Greenidge, on his return from injury, shared the Lavington goals. Ashley Fletcher and Stephen Lynch were on target for Malford.

Both Old Road and Sutton Benger went into their game at Stanley Park on the back of victories over respective opponents The Mallard and FC North Wiltshire.

Benger had won the reverse fixture 6-0 back in September were undone by a rejuvenated Old Road side who, thanks to a 2-1 win, have given themselves an outside chance of beating the drop.

Benger, who went ahead via Chris Miles, saw their advantage wiped out by Matt Poole before half time. Matt Croston grabbed the second-half winner for Bath Road.
