WESTBURY Conservative Club suffered a setback to their hopes of capturing an automatic promotion spot when they were beaten 2-1 at FC St George.
After a goalless opening 45 minutes, Cons’ broke the deadlock when top scorer Steve Ball gave them the lead.
St George restored parity through player-manager Mike Payne and they had the chance to go in front, but Payne saw his penalty saved by Cons’ keeper Nathan Seviour.
Payne spared his own blushes when he popped up with his second of the morning to earn St George their 2-1 win.
Having clinched the title on Thursday evening with a 12-0 win over Calne United, champions The Dursley Arms were in action at Fox & Hounds (Warminster) and a 3-0 win saw them move to within three wins of registering the perfect season.
Martin Johnson scored all three goals that saw him take his tally for the season to 24, just one goal away from top scorer Craig Sheppard.
