THIRD Division The Foresters Arms conjured up the shock of the day in the first round of the AM Print & Copy sponsored Knockout Cup with a 2-0 win at home over second division opposition Old Road FC.

Kyle Palmer’s first-half strike had them dreaming of producing an upset and Harry Fenwick’s second-half effort sealed their triumph.

There was no cup upset at Goatacre where third division Calne United hosted top flight leaders Bremhill View.

As expected Ben Redford’s visitors destroyed their local rivals, winning 10-1.

Rory Worthington’s screamer for Bremhill was cancelled out by a debut goal from Josh Moss that drew Calne level.

Billy Gleed’s double gave Bremhill a half-time 3-1 lead. Kieron Gleed and Jamie Crump scored two each after the break and singles from Jake Gleed, Mark Dolman and Alex Lewis made up the 10.

With no win from their previous eight matches, Premier Division Bath Road looked to their cup match at second division Cavalier to give them some respite.

But for a second time this season Luke Jones side suffered cup heartache as they lost out 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out after the 120 minutes, which ended 3-3, failed to find a winner.

Leigh Blanchard got Cavalier back on level terms after Jack Sanderson had given Bath Road the lead.

Ian Galloway’s diving header put Cavalier ahead only for Ryan Armstrong to net and take the game to extra time where Antony Butler put Cavalier 3-2 up.

A second from Jack Sanderson for Bath Road took it to penalties.

Sam Rogers, Martin Mitchell, Tom Evans, Ashley Lock and Antony Butler scored for Cavalier, George Hall, Jordan Beasley and Quinnan Tarawali finding the net for Bath Road while Terry Askew miss proved costly.

After starting their defence of the Knockout Cup with a victory away at Melksham Town (Sunday), holders Corsham CC Wildcats kept their hopes of back-to-back wins alive with a 5-1 success over top flight stablemates White Horse (Sunday) A, who played the whole game with 10 players.

Wildcats lead 2-0 at the break, Rob Hart’s own goal and Adam Mitchell’s finish giving them the advantage.

Max Whittaker pulled a goal back for White Horse, but it proved to be a consolation as Callum Pritchard, another Rob Hart own goal and a second from Pritchard saw Wildcats into the draw for the next round.

The all-first division clash at Leafy Lane between Corsham Oak and FC Lacock went the way of the hosts who avenged their 4-2 league defeat from earlier this season with a 4-1 win.

An Aaron Masson double saw Corsham gain the upper hand in the first half and although Josh Hard’s penalty got Lacock back in the tie, it was little more than a consolation as Szymon Leppek and Mike Wilkins netted to complete what was a fine win for the Oak men.

Third division Faded FC, who walloped FC Pig & Whistle 11-0 in the previous round were unable to conjure up more cup magic as they suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to top-flight side Rowdy Cow Rowde with all the goals coming in the first half.

Faded must have thought they would be heading through to the last 16 after goals from Matt Minnis and Alexandru Stroiescu had given them a 2-0 lead.

Robbie Whyte got Rowdy Cow back in the tie when he scored from the penalty spot, Matt Taccuso restored parity and Matt Lever.

First division, FC Bradford had a safe passage into the second round after they defeated third division opponents AFC Rowde 6-1.

Josh Magiure, a Troy Hawkes own goal and Steve Badger were on target for Bradford in a first half that also saw Hawkes have a penalty saved by Bradford keeper Morgan Williams.

Mike Evans and Ashley Styles found the net for Bradford prior to George Thomas replying for Rowde. Steve Bryant added number six for Bradford.

Westbury Conservative Club came out on the wrong end of a nine-goal thriller when they played FC St George in the WG Parr Trophy at the start of October.

Looking to avenge their 5-4 loss the Cons’ Club came up short again in another closely contested game that saw St George win 3-1.

Bradley Edwards was on target for St George in a first half that the Cons’ Club wasted chances to get themselves back in the tie.

Mike McConnell doubled the advantage although he had a helping hand in turning Steve Ball’s effort into the net to give the Cons’ Club a lifeline any blushed were spared when Edwards fired home his second to earn St George their win.

Playing their first game in over a month Premier Division Audley FC would have been happy with their tie at third division Forest AFC and so it proved as Paul Mannings side claimed a comfortable 5-1 win.

Sam Myles scored a half-volley at the back post following a good cross into the box to give Audley the lead.

A long throw by Ben Hibberd saw Josh Mannings challenge a defender who accidentally nodded it past the keeper for 2-0.

After going close with a delightful lob, Scott Nash rifled home from close range for 3-0.

Andy Rose scored from six yards at the keepers near post and Sam Myles then had a second disallowed from a dubious offside with what would have been a stunning finish.

Harry Brennand replied for Forest before Paul Mannings with a finish that found the top corner going in off both the post and bar saw it finish at 5-1.

Lavington Rangers and Calne BFC have already met each other in the WG Parr Trophy this season.

On that occasion Lavington thumped the visitors to Northbrook 8-1, but in a much closer contest Rangers still came out on top with a 2-1 win that gave new manager Kieran Chivers his second win on the spin since taking over from Pete Drew.

Calne led 1-0 at the interval, courtesy of a Stuart Windsor penalty. Aaron Chivers restored parity for Lavington on 55 minutes and a stunning overhead finish strike from Jacob Rogers on 75 minutes sealed their comeback win.

Everything went to plan for Somerford at home to Oakhill, where Trevor Rawlings' Premier Division outfit booked their place in the last 16 with an 8-0 win over their first division opponents.

Trailing 1-0 at the interval to a Chris Cox goal, Oakhill were forced into making second-half changes after Connor Laidlaw walked off at half time.

After the break the floodgates opened as Mark Nolan’s double along with goals for Matt Spear, Kent Kauppinen, Lee Fernandez, Will Gale and Simon Pitman saw the villagers to a comfortable victory.

First division leaders Westbury Rangers had the pleasure of hosting Second division pole sitters The Dursley Arms in what on paper could have been a thriller, but in reality never reached the expected highs.

Dursley had the tie won at half time having built up a 4-0 lead on the way to a 5-1 win.

Dursley led on 15 minutes through Jake Samuel and double their lead on 30 minutes, Leon Greenland scoring for the spot for 2-0.

Samuel added his second on 34 minutes with Greenland making it 4-0 a couple of minutes later to kill of the tie.

Rangers did have the chance to grab a first life line but that went when Rob Youens saw his penalty saved by Kieran Ramsey.

Jake Hiscocks scored a fifth for The Dursley early in the second half, before Adam Bishop netted in the 74th minute to give Rangers their consolation.
