THIRD Division outfit Warminster Wanderers produced the upset of the day in the first round of this season Ken Clarke-sponsored WG Parr Trophy after coming from behind to beat Premier Division Bath Road 4-2.

James Hernandez saw his opener for Bath Road cancelled out by Jamie Howse, who then bagged his second of the morning to give Wanderers a 2-1 interval lead.

Alex Bates extended Wanderers lead to 3-1 before Quinnan Tarawali got Bath Road back in the tie, prior to their hopes of taking the game to extra time being ended by Howse who fired in to complete his hat trick seal a shock 4-2 win.

First division Pheasant FC avoided a possible upset at the hands of Division Two’s Cavalier, who took their opponents to extra time before losing out 4-3.

Danny Johnstone rifled home from close range to give Pheasant a half-time lead.

Goals from Leigh Blanchard and Ian Galloway turned the tie in favor of Cavalier.

Josh Legg headed Pheasant level, however Cavalier regained the lead and looked to be heading when Martin Mitchell’s penalty put them 3-2 up.

With time running out Pheasant won a penalty of their own, which Legg tucked away to level things at 3-3 and take the game to added time where Legg’s delightful chip saw him net his third of the contest and hand Pheasant a 4-3 success.

Last term's Trophy winners and this season’s favourites, Rowdy Cow Rowde, began the defence of their title with a far-from-convincing 5-4 victory at second division FC St George.

Cow had an impressive first 45 minutes as goals from Josh Scott and Steven House put them 2-0 ahead. Reece Collyer halved the deficit for St George only for Rowdy Cow to open up a 5-1 lead, Scott and House each adding a second before Robbie Whyte netted the fifth.

Craig Sheppard gave St George a lifeline prior to the break.

Thanks to a Sheppard double, which saw him complete a hat-trick, the holders were left hanging on.

Calne United came out on top in the all-third division clash against Forest AFC, but Pete Horne’s side needed a penalty shootout to overcome their hosts at Awdry Avenue.

With the game tied at 3-3 after 120 minutes, Calne won the spot kick lottery 4-3 to claim their spot in the last eight.

Goals from Brentley Roberts (penalty), Mark Gee and Paul Cuthbertson with a 35-yard thunderbolt put Forest 3-0 in front before Calne got going.

But once they did Kieren Maidment and a Matt Fenn double got them back on level terms in 90 minutes.

With neither team able to conjure up a winner in the additional 30 minutes it came down to penalties where Steve Jamieson, Daryl Ward and Roberts scored for Forest, but it wasn’t enough as Fenn, Mike Hedges, Hayden Sheffield and Maidment were on target for Calne.

First division Sutton Benger proved too strong for Division Two Old Road, the villagers booking their place in the quarter-final courtesy of a 4-0 win.

Ben Butterfield and James Weston shared the goals with two each.

Somerford, who suffered defeat in last season’s final, were among the teams tipped to once again do well, faced a potential banana skin at home to FC Lacock.

However the top-flight side prevailed with a comfortable 6-1 success against their guests.

Lacock shocked their hosts by taking the lead on two minutes, but after Rory Davis had put them 1-0 up they unable to build on their fine start.

Will Stone got Somerford on level terms and it was another Stone effort that saw them take a 2-1 half-time lead.

Lacock’s Kieran Hard put through his own goal to give the home team a 3-1 advantage and the tie was over when Kent Kauppinen added number four.

Ashley Monaghan and Matt Spear’s penalty made up the winners' half dozen.

Corsham Oak’s reward for their preliminary round triumph over FC Bradford was a trip to second division The Mallard, where a 4-1 success saw them keep their hopes of cup glory alive.

Andy Woods and Aaron Masson gave Corsham a 2-0 advantage at the break.

A second from Woods and a Szymon Leppek goal made it 4-0 before Martin Anderson scored Mallard’s consolation.

Lavington Rangers who reached the semi-final stage last term, followed up their stunning 8-1 preliminary round success over Calne BFC with another 8-1 triumph, this time at third division White Horse (Sunday) B.

Ben Jenks' fifth-minute free kick set Lavington on their way, Jason Greenidge made it 2-0 on 15 minutes with Aaron Chivers adding number three in the 40th minute.

Chivers and Greenidge netted their second with the opening 10 minutes of the second period to take it to 5-1.

Gavin Collier pulled a goal back for White Horse on the hour mark, but his effort was little more than a consolation as Chivers completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute before taking his tally to four with a goal in the final minute after Jacob Rogers had found the net for Lavington.
