FIRST Division The Grapes United booked their place in the second round of this season’s AM Print & Copy-sponsored Knockout Cup after a convincing 5-2 success at home to top-flight side Corsham Youth.
Despite being denied by the woodwork five times in the opening 45 minutes Grapes went in at half time 1-0 up, with Ashley Barnett scoring the opener on 10 minutes.
Within a minute of the restart, Grapes had taken a 2-0 lead with Emilio Menghini finding the net.
Ed Sibbick reduced the arrears for Corsham only for Nick Ridout to hand Grapes back their two-goal cushion.
Connor Wilcox's stunning volley kept Corsham in the tie, but any hopes of a comeback were killed off when Gary Higdon fired in number four before adding his second of the morning for 5-2.
